It’s been a whirlwind the past several days… Friday was filled with cramming in work to free up other time to socialize a bit.

I got invited by some crafty girls I met at an Art show back in November to do a little knitting circle each Sunday. After feverishly looking up ‘how to knit’ on YouTube and digging through boxes to find my old knitting stuff from college, the outing proceeded to be cancelled two weeks in a row. Bummer. But last Sunday – it finally happened! It’s true– my knitting skills are pretty rudimentary, but it was nice to get out, chat a bit, and start to meet some other girls. Things were semi-awkward in the way that everyone has a relationship (and I use this term loosely) with another person somehow, but two or more people don’t share *common* relationships, so conversations were often one sided or between two people. It’s just that clunky phase, I think, where everyone is kind of new to everyone else <almost> and no one really has anything in common yet. We’ll get there, eventually…

I also attended my very first Maple Sap Boil-down!

It was exciting to see the whole process from sap to syrup (well, we think … we didn’t stay for the end) – and generally hang out with a cool bunch of people (even found one of the farmers there from the markets we volunteer at!… YAY US! 1 point for making a connection!) And as much as I want to dive into a comfy FRIENDSHIP with some of these folks, it’s just not there yet. Perhaps with time, but not yet…

And then houses. HOUSES. We squeezed a trip out on Sunday to take a gander at a cute little property on THIRTY-TWO acres in a town a bit farther West than we’d like, but in the end, decided it just didn’t have *everything* we were looking for, especially at the price it was asking. The land was intriguing, but it was certainly lacking some finish (it had been a rental for a long time, so it had been stripped of all character and then some) and instead of being one BIG project, like some of the other places we’re considering… this place had a million medium projects — taking down the awkward washer/dryer closet in the dining room (?), re-doing the blue bathrooms, re-doing the kitchen, re-roofing the barn, etc, etc…

And yesterday was our 2nd walkthrough at two of our top contenders – the Sugar Maple House and the Oak Hill Farmhouse. And it may just come down to where we might get the best deal, as both are currently out of our pricerange. More on these two soon, as some data comes in regarding pricing…

Until then, we’re cramming in all the work we put off over the weekend in the name of Being Social. Thursday we leave for Vermont for a few days, and until then – it’s crunch time!
